KFT stands for Kidney Function Test.
It checks how well your kidneys are filtering blood and maintaining fluid balance.
When electrolytes are included, it also measures essential salts and minerals in your blood that control hydration, nerve function, and muscle activity.
Your doctor may order KFT with Electrolytes to:
Detect kidney diseases (chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury).
Monitor diabetes and high blood pressure effects on kidneys.
Check fluid and salt balance in your body.
Evaluate unexplained swelling, weakness, or fatigue.
Monitor patients on kidney-affecting medications.
Fasting for 8–10 hours may be suggested for accuracy.
Drink water, but avoid excessive fluid intake before the test.
Tell your doctor about medications (especially diuretics, BP medicines, or supplements).
